How it works
A weighted sum: each option's score is the sum of its criterion scores multiplied by that criterion's weight, normalised so the weights total one. The arithmetic is trivial and is not the point. The value is in being forced to name the criteria before looking at the options, and then in the sensitivity check — if a ten-percent change in one weight reverses the ranking, the decision was never really about the numbers.
